AN AVATARA IS BEYOND PRAISE AND BLAME
One day Girish was very drunk and made an extraordinary demand. He said to the Master, 'You must be born as my son.'
Sri Ramakrishna replied, I cannot do that. Why should I be your son?" This enraged Girish and he began to insult the Master, using the most obscene language. When the other devotees heard about this they said to the Master, 'You should never visit him again.'
But the very next day, the Master went to Girish's house. Girish fell at his feet, and crying bitterly said, Thakur, if you had not come today, I would not have
believed you are an Avatära. I would not have known that
praise and blame are the same to you.'
WHEN DAYANAND SARASWATI SAW RAMAKRISHNA PARAMAHANSA
After seeing Sri Ramakrishna in samădhi, Dayananda Sarasvati, the founder of the Arya Samāj, said the same thing:
We have only read the Vedas and Vedānta, but this great soul has found the fruit. Seeing him we have direct evidence that scholars by churning the scriptures get only whey. Great souls take all the butter'
