It is said in Nilakantha's song: 'This treasure of Prema must be preserved with the greatest effort.'" Saying this, the Holy Mother sang the song. In what a sweet voice did she sing that day! It is even today resounding in my ears. At the end of the song, she said, "Ah, how excellent is this song of Nilakantha! The Master liked it immensely. While the Master was at Dakshineswar, Nilakantha would come to him now and then and sing songs. How blissful it was! How many kinds of people came to him! It was as if a mart of joy was set up at Dakshineswar.

The last time I visited him I had with me the headmaster of our school, who had just then graduated. As soon as Sri Ramakrishna saw him, he asked me: "Where did you pick him up? He's a fine fellow!"
Then he continued: "You are a lawyer. You are very clever. Can you give me a little of your cleverness? The other day your father came here and stayed three days."
Myself: "How did you find him?"
Master: "A nice man. But now and then he talks nonsense."
Myself: "Please help him get over it when you see him next."
At this Sri Ramakrishna smiled a little.
Myself: "Please give us a few instructions."
Master: "Do you know Hriday?"
Myself: "Your nephew? I know him only by name."
Master: "Hriday used to say to me: 'Uncle, please don't give out your stock of instructions all at once. Why should you repeat the same things over and over again?' I would reply: 'You fool, what's that to you? These are my words and if I like I shall repeat them a hundred thousand times. You keep quiet!"
Myself (smiling): "Exactly so!"
A little later he sat up on the bed. He repeated "Om" several times and began to sing a song whose first line is: "Dive deep, O mind, dive deep in the Ocean of God's Beauty."
Hardly had he sung one or two lines when he himself dived deep and was lost in samadhi.

The foundational teaching of Buddhism is the Four Noble Truths. Very briefly, the First Truth tells us that life is dukkha, ;It is often translated as “suffering,” but it also means “stressful” and “unable to satisfy.”
The Second Truth tells us dukkha has a cause. The immediate cause is craving, and the craving comes from not understanding reality and not knowing ourselves. We experience life in a narrow, self-centered way, going through life craving things we think will make us happy. But we find satisfaction only briefly, and then the anxiety and craving start again.
The Third Truth tells us we can know the cause of dukkha and be liberated from the hamster wheel of stress and craving. Liberation depends on one’s own insight into the source of dukkha. Craving will not cease until you realize for yourself what’s causing it.
The Fourth Truth tells us that insight comes through practice of the Noble Eightfold Path.
The Eightfold Path might be explained as an outline of eight areas of practice ― including meditation, mindfulness, and living an ethical life that benefits others ― that will help us live happier lives and find the wisdom of enlightenment.
In this
video I talk about 2 ways to see life - Life Is Miracle and There is No
Miracle. The true miracle of life is not in doing something, but in realizing
that life is already a big miracle.
Everything
here is magical. If you eat a banana or a piece of bread or a fish it becomes a
human being over an afternoon. What greater miracle do you want? All of you are
performing the miracle. The only problem
is that it is happening unconsciously. As your understanding and knowing of the
existence widens and expands, there is no miracle for you. Everything is just
reality. If your understanding and experience of life is very limited
everything is a miracle for you. Life happens in many different way. Because
people have limited themselves to just the physical and the logical - physical
in experience and logical in thinking they call anything beyond this a miracle.

The year was 1893. A young monk from India opened the World’s Parliament of Religions with an electrifying speech that brought the assembled representatives of the world’s major faiths to their feet.
The monk was Vivekananda, who had come to Chicago without a formal connection to the parliament but nonetheless managed to secure an invitation to give not only an opening address but several more speeches.
More than 6,000 people crowded into the assembly hall of the Permanent Memorial Art Palace, now the Art Institute of Chicago, to hear the young man speak.
Passionately and eloquently, Vivekananda called for the end of religious bigotry and intolerance. Today, his galvanising words adorn the grand staircase of Art Institute of Chicago, just as relevant even after 127 years.
The installation, that treats the museum’s Grand Staircase almost like a notepad, was built by Mumbai-based artist Jitish Kallat as a powerful visual symbol of hope and shared humanity.
This is what people close say about me: “Misfit, Dreamer, Impractical, Champion of lost causes, Always Wrong” etc. etc. Maybe they are right, maybe not. What do I think of myself? I am trying to find out.
