Our first speaker spoke about the 10 powerful ideas from Ancient India : Wisdom from the Upanishads. Secular in their content and universal in their appeal, these compositions have life affirming secrets that contain ideas about life, the universe and everything relevant from the 700BCE to the 21st century. Computer engineer, journalist and children's author, Roopa Pai is the co-founder of Bangalore Walks and the winner of the Crossword Award for "The Gita for Children". Can you celebrate life and not cling to it? Can you give up control and still get things done? Can you achieve your goals without forcing? These are all themes we find in the ancient Taoist key work called the Tao Te Ching, which was written by a mysterious sage named Lao Tzu. There isn’t much known about this character of Chinese antiquity, and some historians even doubt that he truly existed. But whoever wrote the Tao Te Ching has inspired millions of people to see the world in a different light. Taoism deeply respects the passive, receptive part of existence, which is generally undervalued. By becoming aware of the strength of, what the Taoists call, the ‘feminine’ or the ‘yin’-aspects of life, we’ll see that effort and force aren’t always the best tools in the toolbox for getting things done. In a previous video, The Philosophy of Flow, I expand upon the so-called ‘flow state’, known as the soft power of ‘wu wei’ or ‘effortless-action’, also described as being ‘in the zone’ when participating in certain activities like sports and painting. This video, however, explores how the wisdom of Lao Tzu can help us go with the flow in a more general sense. How can we let go, and let ourselves be carried along with the river of life? How can we live more effortlessly, with less stress and anxiety? How can we live a rich life and enjoy it to the fullest, with minimal interference of the natural course? The following five lessons based on the writings of Lao Tzu might inspire you to live life in an entirely different way. Here are 5 life lessons from Lao Tzu. Ramakrishna Jayanti 2021

     Ramakrishna Jayanti 2021

Ramakrishna (1836-1886 C.E.) was a famous Saint in the 19th century India who is regarded as an incarnation. He was born on 18 February 1836 into a very poor but devoutly religious Brahmin family in the village of Kamarpukur, Hooghly district of West Bengal, India. He became a priest of the Dakshineswar Kali Temple, dedicated to the goddess Kali. He is famously known as Ramakrishna Paramahansa among his devotees. His full name was Gadadhar Chattopadhyay.

He was married to Sarada Devi who later became his spiritual counterpart. Swami Vivekananda was one of his famous disciples. In honor of his Guru, Swami Vivekananda founded Ramakrishna Math which works for the welfare of others and spread the spiritual movement known as Ramakrishna Movement worldwide. Belur Math is the headquarters of Ramakrishna Math and Mission.

According to Hindu lunar calendar it was Dwitiya, Phalguna, Shukla Paksha, Vikram Samvat 1892 when Shri Ramakrishna was born. Each year the birth anniversary of Ramakrishna is celebrated as per Hindu lunar calendar across all Ramakrishna Maths.

In this video it is described that the concept of soul is not just based on faith, rather it has a scientific basis. Well-known CANADIAN NEUROSURGEON DR. WILDER PENFIELD talks about an experiment in his book mystery of the mind. He conducted this experiment for more than 40 years to disprove the existence of the soul. However, in the end, he realized that Consciousness is not part of the brain rather it exists outside of the Human Brain and that is how he got converted from a materialist to a dualist.

REVERED YATISHWARANANDAJI MAHARAJ - REMINISCENCES BY MONKS

28-January-2021
Today is Most Revered Swami Yatiswaranandaji’s Birthday!!!
REMINISCENCES BY MONKS AND NUNS
Swami Yatiswarananda As We Know Him – Volume I (Sri Ramakrishna Math, Mylapore, Chennai – 600 004) p: 476 – 477
Chapter 38:
Associations with a Great Monk – 06
SWAMI BRAHMESHANANDA
The author is a former editor of the Vedanta Kesari, now living at Ramakrishna Advaita Ashrama, Varanasi.
Some Inspiring Anecdotes – 01
Here a few anecdotes connected with revered Maharaj which reveal deeply humane and simple nature rooted in his deep spirituality:
Sadananda Shukla
There was a devotee of the Indore Ashrama named Sadananda Shukla, who often used to visit the old Ashrama at the Snehlata Ganj. When we all got initiation and told him about it, he also felt a desire for it. He expressed it to us that he might go to Bangalore for it.
One day he suddenly disappeared without informing us, or his family members. His younger brother came to enquire about him. We told him that he might have gone to Bangalore. As a matter of fact, he just boarded the train. (During those days, trains were not as fast as now. It must have taken at least 2-3 days for him to reach Bangalore.) In the meantime, we sent a telegram to Bangalore Ashrama (there were no cell phones, nor even trunk-call facility was easily available) informing Swami Yatiswaranandaji that he might be accommodated if he reaches the Ashrama.
Sadananda Shukla reached Bangalore Ashrama in a haggard condition – tired and hungry. Initially, he was given a good (affectionate) scolding by Swami Samjnanandaji and then was accommodated in the Ashrama guest house. In the meantime, his wife with two of their young children, with his brother hurried to Bangalore, fearing that he might renounce the world and become a Sannyasin. Initially, Sadananda was told that initiation is not a thing which can be granted just for asking. But later Swami Yatiswaranandaji initiated him, his wife and his younger brother.
When I met him at Bangalore later, I came to know all these details. There was lot of fun. But, Swami Yatiswaranandaji also was happy and commented that Sadananda had devotion.
Swami Yatiswaranandaji used to bless by affectionately slapping the back of the person who was bowing down to him.
Mrs Vimla Devi Agarwal and her sister Padma Devi Aggarwal were initiated together by Revered Swami Yatiswaranandaji. Before initiation, he asked them about their Ishta. They said they did not know anything about it. Then Swami Yatiswaranandaji said that Sri Krishna was their Ishta, and initiated them accordingly. Later he told them that they were so innocent (that they did not know their Istha Devata) and that they will get liberation in this very life.
Once the house where they lived was set on fire by some miscreants. Among the things which did not catch fire was Swami Yatiswaranandaji’s photo, his footprints and the cloth given by him to them.
