No matter how spiritually dead a person is outwardly, in his soul within he is still a powerful image of God.
By delving in short-lived material pleasures, the outgoing expression of the soul temporarily assumes a negative nature, or ego, in which it feels identified with the body, and forgets the superior rejoicings of God-contact within.
It is our duty to inspire courage in our souls, which have shrouded their true nature with ignorant living, and to try to awaken a spiritual response in them.
By riotous sensual living, all the candles of happiness are consumed at once. By self-controlled, wisdomguided living, the lamps of the ever-new joy of God burn brightly forever on the altar of the soul's immortality.
